INFRASTRUCTURE

Whether refurbishing, expanding capacity, or building new roads there is a growing awareness that road development has major environmental consequences.

Included in the known major environmental impacts of road projects are damage to sensitive ecosystems, loss of productive agricultural lands, resettlement of large numbers of people, permanent disruption of  major landscapes and wildlife habitat, accelerated urbanization, and introduction of disease.

Given the environmental weight that impacts from road development can have such projects call for comprehensive environmental assessment studies.

Our EA professionals (both specialists and generalists) work in support of the engineering process. These professionals study how to manage a broad range of environmental attributes potentially affected by roads. They work closely with state/provincial land use planners, legislation and policy makers, dedicating the substantial time and effort that is required to identify potential impacts and developing options for minimizing/mitigating them.
